Our Missionaries
History
Bethel began in May of 1994 on a park bench in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. It started with two men who used wheelchairs themselves and deeply understood the challenges faced by the disability community in accessing mobility aids. A few years later, the Mooney family moved from the United States to join and strengthen this growing mission. Over the next two decades, Bethel grew from that humble park bench into a fully operational organization—complete with a wheelchair repair facility, a welding shop for building prefabricated homes, and offices supporting food, medical, and educational sponsorship programs. Today, with these resources and the help of our mission teams, Bethel serves every department in Guatemala—bringing both the hope of the Gospel and the physical aid that is so urgently needed.
Bethel Ministries International is an inter-denominational Christian ministry transforming lives in Guatemala through the love of Christ. We provide mobility, build homes, distribute food, and support education — building lasting relationships with the communities we serve. We believe true transformation happens one life at a time.
