Hannah’s Calling
Hannah was just a little girl when she first felt it—a quiet, unwavering certainty deep in her heart: “I’m a missionary.” She would say it boldly to anyone who asked, not as a future dream, but as a present truth. Raised by her parents, Chris and Donna Mooney (BMI’s founders), she spent her childhood serving alongside them—first in a children’s home in Mexico for ten years, then near the mountains of a little town in New Mexico for three more. Their lives were shaped by obedience, by listening for the voice of God and following wherever it led. One day, as a family, they made the decision to move to Guatemala to obey God’s calling to serve.
Hannah flourished there, joyfully teaching Sunday school at church, her heart full of love for others and for Jesus. It was in Guatemala, at 15 years old, that she met Saúl.
Saúl’s story began differently
He started going to church, where Chris Mooney was the pastor, at 16 and was serving in the church any way he could. Then, at 17, he was looking for a way to pay for his studies when he found work at Bethel Ministries. He didn’t know yet what God wanted for his life. But those around him saw it clearly—he had a gift. He knew how to adjust and fit each child into their custom wheelchair with great care. with a quiet focus that couldn’t be taught. It was clear that God guided him through every wheelchair fitting with extraordinary precision.
With time, Saúl began to wonder, “God, what do you want for me?” That question led him deeper into service. The more he gave, the more his heart was stirred. The call became louder, the path clearer. Slowly, step by step, he grew into leadership—and eventually Became the DIRECTOR OF GUATEMALAN OPERATIONS of the very ministry where he once started as a teenager with questions.
